Libraries of Russia: Open meeting of military-historical club “Kolchuga” kicked off in Pskov

An open meeting of the military-historical club “Kolchuga” (“Chain armour”) “Alexander Nevsky and his time” took place on September 10 2010 at the reading room of the I.I. Vasilyov Historical Library of Local Lore in Pskov.

Pskov ethnographer Natan Levin delivered a report called “Glorification of Alexander Nevsky by Pskovans in the pre-revolutionary Pskov”. A virtual book exhibition from the library’s holdings, as well as a multimedia show of a historical feature film “Alexander. Battle of the Neva” were demonstrated to participants.

The meeting was timed to the Memorial Day of Saint Alexander Nevsky, which is celebrated on September 12 and is connected with the date of transfer of the Prince’s remains from Vladimir to the St. Petersburg Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander-Nevsky Lavra.
