Important documents on the history of world church councils will be virtually united into the digital library available on Internet. The initiative was launched by an Italian church historian Alberto Melloni, general secretary of the “Foundation of Pope XXII for religion studies”. His project on digitization of council documents of all church institutions worldwide spanning the whole history of church has already found a wide response among many institutions of the world. Thus documents on the history of the church will be provided by Istanbul, Rome, Jerusalem, Moscow, Geneva, Vienna, Aachen, Konstanz and Munich. The electronic library of digitized church documents is expected to appear on Internet in 2012.
