The Presidential Library mourns for Vladimir Nikolayevich Zaitsev

On October 27 2010 passed away Vladimir Nikolayevich Zaitsev, Director General of the National Library of Russia, President of the Russian Library Association.

Outstanding managerial skills, professionalism, strong leadership qualities and personal charisma had always attracted a lot of people to him. He entered the history of Russian librarianship as the founder of the Russian Library Association, permanent head of the National Library of Russia in course of 25 years, who continued the best traditions of the Imperial Public Library and laid the foundations of information and technological development of the library.

His untimely death is a great loss for the whole cultural community. Fond memories of him will forever remain in the hearts of every person who knew him and worked with him.

The collective of the Presidential Library expresses deep condolences to the kith and kin of Vladimir Nikolayevich, and all the workers of the National Library of Russia.
