Russian language: Conference “Russian word in cultural and historical context” launched in Kemerovo

The Russian scientific and practical conference with participation of foreign scholars “Russian word in cultural and historical context” was launched on October 22 2010 at the Kemerovo State University of Culture and Arts (KemGUKI).

Participants of the conference brought into focus urgent issues of studying the development of the word as a fundamental principle of Russian culture and art.

Special attention was given to issues, concerning problems of transformation of the Russian language and culture and identification of dominant characteristics of the Russian word. Russian and foreign scholars exchanged expertise in handling the problems of determination of specific functioning of the Russian word in cultural, historical and social context and raised the issue of attracting young students and graduates of humanities to discussion of the Russian word functioning.
