Memory of Russia: Military and Historical Festival kicks off in Maloyaroslavets

23 October 2010

On October 23-24 2010 in Kaluga oblast will take place a traditional festival marking 198th anniversary of the Battle of Maloyaroslavets, which “put an end to attacks, caused flight and death of enemies”. Not only did this battle become a turning point of the Patriotic War 1812, and predetermine the destruction of the Great army of Napoleon, but it also appeared as the beginning of the fall of the whole French Empire.

The climax of the festival will become re-enactments of battle scenes. This year in the picturesque valley of the Luzha River over 300 representatives of military and historical clubs from different regions of Russia will revive impressive battles with spectacular special effects. Our contemporaries will have a unique opportunity to see with their own eyes what had happened in Maloyaroslavets almost two centuries ago.
