History of Russia abroad: Exhibition mounted in Strasbourg marks anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War
The exhibition called “The Tragedy of Peoples”, which brings into focus occupation of the USSR by Nazis, will open on October 16 in Strasbourg – historic capital of the French region of Alsace, which survived the 1940–1944 occupation.
Exhibits have been provided by the Moscow Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War, the Russian Jewish Congress, the Research and Educational Center “Holocaust”, the Bryansk State Local Lore Museum, the Kursk Museum Reserve “The Big Oak”, the Museum of Slovak National Uprising. The exhibition has been organized within the framework of the Russia-France Year by the Consulate General of Russia in Strasbourg with a support of the Strasbourg City Council.
The exposition puts on show photographs, portraits, archives, works of art – witnesses of atrocities committed by Nazis against civilian population, and the catastrophe, endured by several generations in many countries.
The exhibition has been launched in the year of 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War over Nazi Germany and the end of World War II. It will be open until October 30.
