
Libraries of Russia: Rare books about Leo Tolstoy put on show in Lipetsk
Exhibition of rare books, timed to 100th death anniversary of Leo Tolstoy, opened at the Lipetsk Regional Universal Scientific Library.
The exposition puts on show not only pre-revolutionary editions of several selected works by Leo Tolstoy, but also displays books about life and work of the great Russian writer.
One of the most valuable books, displayed at this exhibition is the one entitled “The Last days of Leo Nikolayevich Tolstoy” (St. Petersburg, 1910), which was compiled within 10 days after the death of Leo Tolstoy. The book covers articles by famous writers, scholars, accounts of kith and kin and eyewitnesses. It provides a detailed account of the illness of Leo Nikolayevich and all the accompanying circumstances up to 5 a.m. on November 7. What is more, the book includes photographs of Astapovo station, where the writer spent last seven days of his life.
The exhibition is open up to the end of November.
