Peoples of Russia: Days of culture of indigenous northern peoples launched in Tyumen

The Days of Culture of indigenous smaller peoples of the North are held on October 8 - 11 2010 in Tyumen. The national holiday aims to promote, develop and popularize the original culture of native smaller peoples.

The program of the Days of Culture includes a concert, a photo vernisage and an exhibition of modern and traditional decorative and applied art of northern peoples. The exhibition-fair will put on show articles from fish skin, bark, and also furs and leathers.

At the nomad camp of indigenous smaller peoples of the North (Archaeological Museum Reserve on the lake Andreevskoye) will take place the all-round northern championship.

Within the framework of the holiday will take place series of master-classes on production of souvenirs of native northern peoples with use of traditional natural resources. Children will have a chance to take part in a creative workshop on production of the national toy “Akan’”.
