Libraries of Russia: "Libraries’ Activities on Local Lore Studies: Modern Approaches" mounted in Pskov

On September 30 2010 the Pskov Regional Universal Scientific Library hosted its scientific and practical conference “Libraries’ Activities on Local Lore Studies: Modern Approaches”. The conference will take place at the Novosokolniki Central Regional Library.

Local lore studies – is one of the priority areas of libraries’ work. Local lore documents and literature not only have educational importance but also represent a significant part of cultural and historical heritage, whereas libraries are accumulating and preserving the sources of the local lore data in their holdings and are actively encouraging readers’ interest to them.

Participants of the regional scientific and practical conference “Libraries’ Activities on Local Lore Studies: Modern Approaches” will turn the spotlight on new approaches of creation of region’ socio-cultural image; discuss the possibility of bringing together local lore resources and releasing them on Internet. Participants will learn about an expertise of municipal libraries of Pskov, Strugi Krasnye, Dedovichi, Pechory, Loknya, Novosokolniki on military and patriotic upbringing, creation of villages’ chronicles, museum activities as part of the local lore work implemented by a municipal library.
