Regions of Russia: Conference “University library in the context of history” in Nizhniy Novgorod

The regional scientific and practical conference entitled “University library in the context of history (from traditions to innovations)” opened on November 25 2010 in Nizhniy Novgorod. The conference marks the 80th anniversary of the scientific and technical library of the R.Ye. Alekseev Nizhniy Novgorod State Technical University.

The conference has brought together directors and leading specialists of university libraries, university lecturers, students, undergraduates of Nizhniy Novgorod and Nizhniy Novgorod region universities.

The conference’s program covers sections, roundtable discussions and presentations on the following topics:

- the role of the university library in streamlining university’s innovative development;

- the role of the university library in the educational process and research studies at the university;

- library-information services: problems and their solutions;

- automation of library-bibliographic services at the university library;

- profession of a librarian, human resources, management;

- problems of formation and preservation of library holdings, collections of rare and valuable editions:

- educational functions of the university library.
