Internet resources: A record breaking 80 Gigapixels panoramic view of London goes on Internet

The founder of 360cities.net, the website of panoramic photos, Jeffrey Martin has unveiled a record breaking 80 Gigapixels panoramic photo of London.

This new London gigapixel image, if printed at normal photographic resolution, would be 35 meters long and 15 meters tall. The entire image of the 360 degree panoramic view is 400,000 x 200,000 pixels; presently it is a record breaking quality that has ever been.

The panoramic photo has been made from 7 886 individual stills. The photographer stood atop a 36 story Centre Point building at the crossroads of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road in the center of London over a period of three days.

Earlier this week Google included 360-degree panoramic photos from all over the world contributed by users of 360cities.net to its virtual globe - Google Earth, new “Photos” layer.
