The exhibition called “180 articles from the Museum’s ethnographic collection” was unveiled at the Orenburg Regional Local Lore Museum on November 18 2010. It puts on show traditional costumes of peoples of Orenburg krai, namely, Russians, Mordvinians, Kazakhs, Ukrainians, Bashkirs, and Tatars.

The exhibition gives a chance to trace the history of costumes, which spans 180 years. Specialists claim that the exposition displays mostly festive and ritual attires, but there are everyday dresses as well. What is more, the preference has been given for women’s costumes, possessing more artistic expressiveness as compared to the men’s.

The Russian costume occupies a separate hall of the museum. Among the accessories and clothes here are more popular Cossacks’ costumes, shoes and decorations. Specialists highlight that at the jubilee exhibition visitors will have an opportunity to see comparatively new articles, which had been found during ethnographic expeditions 6-7 years ago.
