International events: Conference “Nuremberg Trials: Historical and Legal Aspects” in Moscow

10 November 2010

On November 9-10 2010 the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation jointly with the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University) are holding the International scientific conference entitled “Nuremberg Trials: Historical and Legal Aspects”. The conference is timed to 65th anniversary of the beginning of the Nuremberg tribunals over prominent leadership members of the defeated Nazi Germany, which had been lasting for 10 months – November 20 1945 – October 1 1946. Nuremberg Trials is a milestone in the history of the world civilization. The norms – legal and moral – have been solidly fixed in the public consciousness. The trial and the sentence became an adequate answer to the military crimes, unprecedented atrocities against the humanity and peace.

Congress participants are discussing various aspects of the Nuremberg Trials. Special focus has been brought to the earlier unknown archival documents.

The conference has been organized by the World History Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University) of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It has attracted scientists from Russia, the USA, Great Britain, Germany and the Netherlands.
