Digital libraries abroad: 1400 manuscripts of the M. Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts go digital

Out of 30 000 ancient manuscripts officially registered in the world over 17 000 are housed in Matenadaran – the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts of Armenia. Specialists estimate that during a complete digitization of the whole array of ancient manuscripts housed at Matenadaran around 12-13 million frames will be converted into electronic format. Presently 1400 manuscripts, i.e. 1 600 million frames, have been digitized. All electronic manuscripts are now made freely available for public.
