World Libraries: National Library of Armenia digitizes its books

Along with the works targeted at e-catalogue creation, the National Library of Armenia (NBA) has launched digitization of its books and printed periodicals. The library is reported to have already bought wide-screen high-quality scanners necessary for digitization of editions.

What is more, a new digitization center will soon open at the NBA. As for the plans, 10-12 books, i.e. 3000-4000 pages are expected to be converted into digital format per day. After all copyright protection issues are settled, digitized books will be made accessible on the library’s website, which already provides e-catalogues. Already 500 000 books out of library’s 6,5 million storage units have been introduced into e-catalogues.
