Memory of Russia: Sixty-ninth anniversary of 1941 Moscow parade

The 69th anniversary of the legendary parade which took place on Moscow’s Red Square in 1941 is celebrated on November 7 2010. To mark this anniversary in Moscow were carried out various memorable events:

- ceremony of laying wreaths to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and baskets of flowers to the monument to G.K. Zhukov, which was attended by city officials, Moscow City Duma deputies, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, participants of the 1941 parade, representatives of the city youth associations;

- solemn march on the Red Square;

- solemn meeting of veterans-participants of march at the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre.

Solemn march on the Red Square brought together servicemen who were wearing uniform of 1941, the Presidential Regiment Cavalry, Russian Military Honour Guard.

More than 4 000 members of the Moscow youth movement, Moscow Public Organization for Children “Sodruzhestvo” (“Commonwealth”), members of military patriotic clubs, search teams, Moscow military school students, young  drummers of the Moscow military-musical school.

Main participants of the event were veterans of the Great Patriotic War, including those who took part in the legendary parade of November 7 1941 on the Red Square.
