Russian language: Congress “Russian language and culture within the framework of the Russian world” launched in St. Petersburg

The Second Congress “Russian language and culture within the framework of the Russian world” took place at the St. Petersburg State University on October 26-28 2010. The Congress was organized by the Russian Association of Teachers of Russian language and Literature (ROPRYAL), the Russian Language and Culture Institute of the Faculty of Philology of St. Petersburg State University with support of Russkiy Mir Foundation.

Congress participants discussed the state policy targeted at consolidation of positions of the Russian language in Russia and abroad, linguocultural dominants of the Russian world, methodologies for Russian language and literature teaching, and focused their attention on the Russian language in various spheres of communication and culture of Russian speech. High on the agenda of the congress’s multifaceted program were: conceptual fundamentals for creation of a new generation textbooks for Russian schools and promotion of influence of the Russian language in the international arena, Russian lingo consciousness, forms of interaction on Internet etc

This year the congress brought together over 300 participants from the whole Russia and other 11 countries of the world, including Spain and China.
