Information technology and society: “Peter” type system development completed

With the support of Rospechat was completed a public font of "Peter" which supports national alphabets of the Russian Federation constituent territories.

To celebrate the 300 anniversary of the introduction of the Russian civil font, in 2008-2010 with financial support of Rospechat was held a series of events dedicated to the promotion of the Cyrillic alphabet, the study of trends in language and writing, playing an important role in the development of national cultures.

One of the most significant in a series of anniversary events was a project to develop public multilingual font of "Peter" supporting the national languages of the Russian Federation constituent territories.

The project was implemented in two stages. The company "ParaType supported by Rospechat in 2009 developed a font PT Sans - font class grotesques. The presentation took place January 13, 2010 - the Day of the Russian press - in the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications.

In 2010, the company ParaType completed work on PT Serif font - antique class, intended, in particular, for typing of belletristic literature. PT Serif also supports all the languages of the peoples of Russia.

On the "ParaType" web site PT Sans and PT Serif are publicly available for download.
