Internet resources: New video project goes on Internet

15 December 2010

A new project called “Talking Heads” - an alternative TV intended for intellectual elite - has been launched on Internet. Its full name has been shortened in domain to www.gogol.tv. The new resource, developed by an Internet agency Notamedia, delivers dialogues between experts based on topical events in politics, economy, culture and other areas.

The “Talking Heads” project enables to adapt analytical genres to new requirements. Dialogues between experts have been divided into subject-oriented pieces – thus a viewer may choose whether to watch a whole dialogue or at once jump to the topic, which attracts his interest. Gogol.tv – is the first website on Russia’s Internet which makes use of such an option of video watching.

What is more, users may highlight any video fragment and launch it on his own blog, website or share it with his friends. Gogol.tv has been already integrated into social media, while in 2011 it will show up on most popular mobile platforms: iOS and Android.

The “Talking Heads” producer Rostislav Vylegzhanin explains the urgency of mounting the Gogol.tv project in a following way: “Presently Russia’s traditional media is lacking space for a civilized dialogue: TV often prevents from speaking your mind or sometimes even touching upon serious topics, while spacious Internet genres do not leave a place for a profound and quality analytics. Therefore jointly with our partners the “Bolshoi Gorod” (Large City) journal and the Andrei Sakharov Public Center and Museum we’ve decided that such a project might prove interesting and useful”.
