Regions of Russia: “Imperial Pavlovsk” exhibition in Perm

13 December 2010

A new exhibition “Imperial Pavlovsk” kicked off at the Perm State Art Gallery. Gallery halls put on show pictures, drawings, personal belongings of the family of the Emperor Paul I from the collection of the State Museum Preserve “Pavlovsk” (Leningrad Oblast).

The exhibition features 210 pieces of art. Many of them have been put on show for the first time. These are tsar’s porcelain sets, palace decoration items from metal and precious materials, costumes, paintings, drawings, and books. A part of the exhibition also sheds light on the history of Pavlovsk restoration after the Great Patriotic War.

The exhibition is a part of a major project “National treasures of museums of Russia – in Perm krai”, which is being carried out with the support of the krai’s Ministry of Culture. Thus, within the framework of the project, Perm residents can familiarize themselves with collections originating from the State Historical Museum, the Moscow Kremlin museums, and the State Tretyakov Gallery without leaving Perm krai.
