Society and Book Culture: Patriotic Book Festival opens in Nizhniy Novgorod

Publishers Association of Russia (ASKI), Nizhniy Novgorod Administration with support of the Editorial Board of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications have organized the Festival of Patriotic Book which will take place in Nizhniy Novgorod on December 6-7. The festival will feature a book fair, which will bring together publishers from different regions of Russia - Kirov, Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, Oryol, St. Petersburg, and Yaroslavl.

The festival’s program includes master classes delivered by book illustrators to pupils and students of art schools, addresses of writers and graphic artists to children, roundtable discussions of publishers, librarians and booksellers spotlighting urgent problems of interaction, book availability in Russian provinces, and development of competitive regional publishing.

During the festival the Children’s Literary and Art Gallery "Firebird" will put on display drawings of young artists, dedicated to 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The festival will be held within the framework of 16th International Orthodox Exhibition-Fair "Nizhniy Novgorod krai – the Land of Seraphim of Sarov".
