Regions of Russia: Ten days of Russia’s History in Ulyanovsk

Ten-day festival of Russia’s history, timed to the birthday of a prominent historian, enlightener, first historiographer of the Russian state — Nikolai Mikhailovich Karamzin, is being held at the Ulyanovsk Regional Scientific Library on December 1 - 12 2010.

The library has prepared a series of events which will turn the spotlight on the history of the Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk krai and its people.

The program includes book expositions “Memory of the Heart”, “The Great Citizen”, “N.M. Karamzin in translations”, the award ceremony of winners of the “Library – leader of the year” regional contest. On December 12 the museum “Karamzin Public Library” will open its doors for free visits.

A presentation of the book entitled “Historical chronicles of the notary’s offices of Simbirsk province – Ulyunovsk Oblast” (timed to 15th anniversary of the Notary’s Chamber in Ulyanovsk Oblast) has been organized jointly with the Notary’s Chamber of Ulyanovsk Oblast.

In the library’s Kaminny Hall will be held a presentation of the literary almanac “Karamzin’s Garden”. On the website of the library are available e-resources on the krai’s history.
