Museums: Exhibition “Arkhangelsk caravan” in Moscow celebrates M.V. Lomonosov’s 300th birthday anniversary

An exhibition “Arkhangelsk caravan” opened on January 25, on the day of Moscow State University’s foundation, in exhibition halls of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative-Applied and Folk Arts in Moscow.

The exposition gives a start to 2011 anniversary events, dedicated to 300th anniversary of a prominent scholar M.V. Lomonosov. The new exhibition called “Arkhangelsk caravan” describes a unique cultural heritage of the Russian North (White Sea coast, “Pomorye”) – fatherland of Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov.

The exhibition showcases articles of decorative-applied and folk arts, ethnographic materials from collections of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative-Applied and Folk Arts and museums of Arkhangelsk Oblast, which cast the light on unique cultural heritage and traditions of Pomorye. 

The project involves demonstration of audio- and video materials, including those about the great scholar, photographs showing sights and views of northern nature.
