History of Science: All-Russian S.P. Korolev Youth Scientific Readings in Moscow

On January 24 - 26 2011 the Memorial Museum of Astronautics in Moscow is holding the Fifth All-Russian S.P. Korolev Youth Scientific Readings. Readings have been included into the plan of main events in Moscow for preparation and holding of celebrations timed to 50th anniversary of Ya. A. Gagarin’s spaceflight in 2009–2011.

The opening ceremony of Readings took place on January 24. They brought together 250 pupils, students and teachers from the Chuvash Republic, the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Moscow and Moscow Region, St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kaluga, Krasnodar, Nizhniy Novgorod, Obninsk, Samara, Tula, as well as scholars, designers, cosmonauts, and Mass Media representatives.

Participants and guests of the Readings will familiarize themselves with innovative museum and educational programs and projects of the Memorial Museum of Astronautics, introduced into the Federal and city’s plans for celebration of the 50th anniversary of Yu. A. Gagarin’s spaceflight.

On January 25 young participants will take part in the role-play “Great trip to space in the Memorial Museum of Astronautics”, while heads of delegations will be invited to join the work of the “roundtable discussion” focused on the theme “Prospects of development of aerospace education in Russia”.
