Russian culture abroad: Russian Culture Festival launched in India

The Russian Center of Science and Culture in Chennai (India) has launched a Festival of Russian Culture. The festival has been organized by joint efforts of the Rossotrudnichestvo branch in India, the Indo-Russian Culture and Friendship Society, the Indo-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Indo-Russian House of Dance and Music.

Delegation from an old Russian town Uglich headed by the Mayor, Vice President of the Association of Small and Medium Towns of Russia E.M. Sheremetyeva has arrived to Chennai to take part in the festival.

Distinguished guests, who arrived to the Festival, underscored an importance for development of Indo-Russian cultural ties and expressed confidence that the Festival will give a new incentive to expand humanitarian relations between two countries; and help peoples of India and Russia become closer.

The Festival will be then launched in main cities of the state – Puducherry, Coimbatore, Trichi, Madurai, Kanyakumari and other cities.

E.N. Sheremetyeva will also hold negotiations with heads of cities on establishment of direct links with cities of Russia, meet with business representatives to focus on development of business cooperation, and discuss with heads of creative associations the plans related to cultural exchange between South India and Russian regions.
