IT: Major Technology Trends in 2011

Consumer Electronics Show 2011 (CES 2011) which was held in Las Vegas in January 2011 demonstrated the latest products and innovations to appear on the high-tech market. Major technology trends became obvious after manufacturers of electronic devices unveiled their novelties.

The year 2011 is likely to see the rapid growth of tablet market. Plans of manufacturers are proved by the fact that the exhibition showcased more than 80 tablet PCs.

Android platform’s dominance in smartphones and tablets will become the top trend.  Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) is predicted to gain in popularity. More and more often smartphone producers are choosing one of Android versions.

3D video will become another trend of the year. 3D-TVs have appeared in the lines of all manufacturers, while the market welcomes 3D-cameras, amateur and professional video cameras.

LG Electronics has presented glasses-free 3D-displays intended for smartphones, media players and tablet devices. Asustek Computer has already announced about its intentions to produce mobile devices with these displays.

Discovery, Sony and Imax told about their decision to launch 3D television network. The network should start broadcasting in 2011. Experts consider that the lack of 3D content is the main factor which prevents users from buying 3D TVs.
