5 January 2011

The A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications has launched an interactive exhibition called “The History of Petersburg Television: From the Past to the Future” which casts the light on the history of television.

“The History of Petersburg Television: From the Past to the Future” – is an interactive educational project. One of the oldest museums of science and technology in the world – the A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications - has mounted an exhibition which showcases the developmental stages of television in the northern capital, which is by right called the cradle of Russian television.

The exhibition has been divided into five spaces which revive various epochs: the 1950s, 1970s, 1990s, 2000s, and the future. Each space is a separate room with its particular interior, residents, history and, of course, a TV set. For instance, in the room №50, which stays for the 1950s, the central place is occupied by the first TV set in Russia - KVN-49, which is broadcasting programs of the Leningrad television of the 1950s. While in the room №2035, which symbolizes the future, television has already merged with Internet, and the screen is showing a program and Internet chat.

The exhibition will be open up to February 13 2011.
