Russian culture abroad: Exhibition about Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky launched in Belgrade

2 January 2011

The Belgrade University Library has launched an exhibition entitled “Literature on Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky from the holdings of the University library”.

Organized jointly with the Faculty of Philology of the Belgrade State University the exhibition continues series of expositions “Classical writers of the world literature: jubilees”.

The exhibition will be open within January 2011 symbolically uniting two dates: the 100th anniversary of Leo Tolstoy’s death and the 130th anniversary of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s death.

The exhibition showcases rare monographs bringing into focus the work of two Russian classical writers in many world languages. A detailed and richly-illustrated catalogue has been issued.

Some materials have been provided by the library of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Belgrade, which contributed to the project’s implementation.
