Memory of Russia abroad: Exhibition in Tel Aviv showcases history of Russia’s military glory

24 February 2011

To mark the Russian holiday – Defender of the Fatherland Day – the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv has launched a history and art exhibition of editions from its library’s holdings.

The exposition features memoirs by famous Russian and Soviet military leaders, biographical, military and historical research, best works of the Soviet military prose and poetry, as well as albums and posters of the time of the Great Patriotic War.

The exhibition vividly shows the history of military glory of Russia’s defenders from ancient times up to present days: feats of arms of epic heroes, heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812, victories of the Soviet Army. Russian-speaking Israelis take a special interest in selected materials telling about a contribution of Jewish soldiers to the Great Victory over the Nazi Army.

Visitors of the exhibition also have an opportunity to watch fragments of documentaries and feature films dedicated to the valor and heroism of defenders of the Fatherland during the Great Patriotic War.
