The exhibition “Works by Thomas de Thomon in Hermitage’s collection” kicked off on February 22 2011 in St. Petersburg.

The exhibition showcases architect’s graphic works, his prints and publications, all in all more than 100 works from the Hermitage Museum’s collection. It is its wholeness which distinguishes the exhibition from all others: the Hermitage Museum keeps the most crucial part of Thomas de Thomon’s heritage, which was donated to Alexander I by the architect’s widow soon after his death and then became a part of the museum’s collection.

The museum staff emphasize that the exhibition will enable visitors to see de Thomon not just as “a one ensemble’s architect”, as he is often called for creation of the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island ensemble, but as an artist, garden and interior planner, and creator of monuments.

The exhibition launched at the Twelve-Column Hall will run up to May 29.
