Google Docs Viewer has launched support for 12 new file types including Excel, Photoshop and other popular program files.

It means that users of Google Docs and Google Mail can now view these files in their browsers with no need to use any special applications, like Microsoft Office or Adobe Photoshop.

Apart from .XLS and .XLSX files (supported by Excel 2007 and later versions), Google Docs is now able to show .PPTX files (supported by PowerPoint 2007 and 2010), and AutoCad (.DXF), Adobe Illustrator (.AI), Apple .PAGES etc.

What is more, Google Docs Viewer enables its users to edit office docs. Users may upload different documents, like .DOC (Microsot Word), or .ODT (OpenOffice.org), to a “cloud” service and share these links with other users. Uploaded documents are available for editing, moreover, the same document can be edited by several users at the same time.
