Facsimile of a brilliant monument of ancient East-Slavic written language called “The Life of Euphrosyne of Polatsk” will have been published in Belarus by 2012, told the chief executive of Belarusian Exarchate publishing house Vladimir Grozov.

During the presentation of projects of the National Library of Belarus at 18th Minsk International Book Fair, February 9-13, Vladimir Grozov unveiled two pages of this facsimile. “We have teamed up with the National Library of Belarus to carry out the project on creation of “The Life of Euphrosyne of Polatsk” facsimile, said V. Grozov. He mentioned that the facsimile’s appearance was planned to coincide with the 1150th foundation anniversary of Polotsk, which will be celebrated in June 2012.

“About 30 rarities – monuments of Belarusian book culture can be traced in Russia, USA, Sweden and Poland. Due to certain circumstances it turns out to be impossible to return them, therefore it was decided to make their facsimiles”, explained V. Grozov. Facsimile of “The Life of Euphrosyne of Polatsk” will be published to be then distributed in libraries and museums of Belarus.
