IT and Education: Conference “Modern user of university library: information environment and information behavior”

The All-Russian scientific and practical conference “Modern user of university library: information environment and information behavior” is being held from March 29 to April 1, 2011 at the Academic Library of the South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk).

The conference has been organized by the Russian Library Association (section of university libraries), the South Ural State University, the Academic Library of the South Ural State University.

High on the agenda are the following issues:

- Information behavior of various user categories: real and virtual users;

- Methods and means for development of an individual’s information outlook: the system for development of information culture, methods of evaluation of information culture, professional reading management, information management, organization of leisure reading of students, educational opportunities of library’s website;

- Library’s services for advanced users: mastering modern communication means of information delivery and access, problems of development of individual content for modern media users, “private office” option on the library’s website, virtual library environment, digital libraries, electronic library systems;

- Friendly library: expertise of foreign countries and Russia – communication comfort of library services, libraries’ communication design, friendly environment rich in resources, the code of friendly behavior of librarians.

It is planned to publish collected articles based on the conference materials, which will be made accessible on the conference’s web-page on the website of the South Ural State University Academic library.
