Russian language abroad: “Russian language outside Russia” forum kicks off in London

March 26-27, 2011 London hosted the Third International Forum of heads and teachers of Russian schools “Russian language outside Russia”.

Around 120 participants from 32 countries of the world – headmasters and teachers of schools of informal education, representatives of cultural and educational associations of Europe and America, professors and pedagogues of Faculties of Slavic Studies, Russian language teachers of public schools, representatives of the Ministry of Education - have gathered together to discuss urgent issues concerning organization and teaching methods of Russian language and literature intended for children of compatriots.

Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Alexander Chesnokov, who also attended the forum, called global promotion of Russian language one of the most priority directions of Agency’s work, and also mentioned programs due in 2011 and further years, and in particular, highlighted celebration of the Russian Language Day in Russia and in the world on June 6.

At plenary meetings and sections participants focused on the most topical and interesting problems of Russian language teaching, including implementation of non-traditional teaching methods, distance education, ways of increasing motivation for learning Russian language abroad, problems of pre-school education in Russia and abroad and many other issues.
