History of Russia: Vladivostok hosts presentation of the book about the capital of Primorye

Vladivostok, March 25, 2011 Professor of the University of Washington Birgitta Ingemanson presented her new documentary book which casts the light on the pre-revolutionary history of the capital city of Primorye (Primorsky Krai).

“Sunny Neighborhood. Another Side of Vladivostok” continues the first book entitled “Letters from Vladivostok”, which highlights an impressive life of an American pioneer Eleanor Pray, who lived in Vladivostok since July 1894 to December 1930.

Professor Ingemanson mentioned that the new book featured documents and photographs, which were not included into the first volume.

“Sunny Neighborhood. Another Side of Vladivostok” tells about the Smith family, who lived in Vladivostok in Pochtovy Lane. In her letters Eleanor Pray described the life of Vladivostok, where she spent 36 years”, - Professor said.

The book is dedicated to Vladivostok’s 150th foundation anniversary. The 300-page book covers English and Russian counterparts from both sides. Its print-run is 1000 copies.
