International events: Exhibition “Japan: Images of Time” opens in St. Petersburg

On March 26, 2011 within the framework of the 11th International festival “Japanese spring” the new building of the National Library of Russia (St. Petersburg) is opening the book exhibition “Japan: Images of Time”.

The exhibition unveils editions spanning 1990-2000 from collections of the National Library of Russia. Exhibits include books, albums, atlases, analytical collected works which give an idea of Japan’s contribution towards the world civilization and cast the light on traditions, art, culture and the present day of the country. The exhibition will feature photographs from the “Russian hedgehog in Japan” series.

The “Japanese spring” festival – is an outstanding phenomenon in the cultural life of the city, which does not only unveil Japanese art to St. Petersburg residents, but also contribute to unification of peoples and cultures of Japan and Russia.

This festival is one of traditional annual international cultural and educational programs of the St. Petersburg Association for International Cooperation and the “Russia-Japan” Friendship Society which is held with support of the Consulate General of Japan and St. Petersburg City Administration.
