History of Russia: Exhibition “Orthodox Trans-Urals” kicks off in Kurgan

The Kurgan Regional Local Lore Museum has mounted an exhibition “Orthodox Trans-Urals” focused on the history of Orthodoxy in the Trans-Urals region (Zauralye).

The exhibition unveils archival materials, old photographs and historical documents, ancient Christian relics closely connected with the history of Orthodoxy in the Trans-Urals.

The exhibition highlights themes closely related to the history and culture of the Trans-Urals. Its thematic sections include: “Russian colonization and dissemination of Orthodoxy in the Trans-Urals”, “Dissemination of Orthodox culture in the Trans-Urals”, “The Church and social unrest of 20th c.”. The exhibition finishes with a section which turns the spotlight on the revival of Orthodoxy in the post-Soviet time.
