The Presidential Library develops cooperation with Japan

March 11 – 18, 2011 within the framework of cultural youth exchange programs the Boris Yeltsin Presidential library’s staff as a part of the Russian delegation paid a visit to Japan.

Specialists of the Presidential library visited the Slavic Research Center of the Hokkaido University in Sapporo, where they conducted negotiations with the center’s director Tetsuo Mochizuki and young specialists. As a result of negotiations was reached a preliminary agreement on cooperation in the area of information resources and implementation of joint digital projects, as the Center houses a large number of Russian-language resources which would meet the subject area of the Presidential library.

During their stay in Japan the delegates visited the National Diet Library, where they studied the expertise of Japanese colleagues in respect of preservation and providing access to information resources. The staff of the Presidential Library also made a visit to the Historiographical Institute of the University of Tokyo, Public library of Chiyoda and met with their heads.
