Regions of Russia: Exhibition “Pages of history of postal service” launched in Adygea

March 10, 2011 the National Museum of the Republic of Adygea is opening an exhibition “Pages of history of postal service”.

The exhibition puts on display the witness of history of postal service – a postcard, which is still popular worldwide. The exhibition unveils interesting samples of postcards dated beg. 20th century, time of World War I, postcard collection of Soviet times.

The pearl of the exhibition at the National Museum of the Republic of Adygea is a unique collection of stamps dating back to 19th-20th cc., of a special interest here are stamps “Nicholas I”, “Nicholas II” having the nominal value of 10 and 15 kopeks.

Visitors of the exhibition may also learn interesting facts about the development of the postal service in Adygea. In Maykop the post office was opened July 27 (15), 1867. On Wednesdays and Saturdays it received correspondence and money transfer from the population. A unique exhibit – the witness of those times – is a trunk, which up to the 1930s served as a safe at the Maykop post office.

The exhibition also unveils a revived office of the postal worker of beg. 20th c., attributes of the history of postal service within the past century.
