IT and Society: Apple unveils its new iPad 2

On March 2 2011, San Francisco Apple introduced its new iPad.

New iPad 2 will be a thinner successor to the iPad – the device will be 8.8 mm thick. iPad 2 packs Cortex A5 dual-core processor that Apple asserts will allow to twice the speed and graphics processing will be nine times faster than that of the 2010’s model.

iPad 2 will have two cameras enabling its users to take photos, record videos, launch videoconferences both with other iPad 2 users and owners of Macintosh computers and iPhones.

Apple’s new tablet will offer tools for video editing – AppStore will release iMovie application to coincide with the device’s launch. Besides, Apple will unveil its Garage Band music editor tool for iPad 2. The program will be fully compatible with .band files created on Macintosh computers.
