Publishing and Bookselling: Russia – Guest of Honor at London Book Fair

April 11-13, 2011 Russia will for the first time become Guest of Honor at the London Book Fair. A joint project of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications of Russia (Rospechat), Russian-British Foundation “Academia Rossica”, London Book Fair and British Council was being prepared for two years. Its main purpose is a breakthrough of the Russian book into English-speaking world.

More than 100 events are expected to be held within the fair itself as well as on other sites of London and outside the city. Russian writers, poets, publicists, publishers, critic, researchers and agents are going to present their new books and ideas, reflect on urgent issues of modern time, and discuss the history of relations between two countries.

The status of Guest of Honor at one of the major book publishing forums of the world – is a unique opportunity to increase presence of Russian authors in the English-speaking market. Russia’s pavilion will attract attention of not just international professional community but also British Mass Media. For the first time residents of Great Britain will have a chance to familiarize themselves with modern Russian literature in such a scope and spectrum.

More than 50 famous modern authors of Russia will take part in various events and seminars.
