8 April 2011

The exhibition “Russian-Azerbaijani cultural ties in photographs of ITAR-TASS and AzərTAc” kicked off at the Russian Information and Cultural Center in Baku. It is timed to 19th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between two countries and The World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue which opened April 7 in Baku.

The exposition unveils 60 works by photographers of Russian and Azerbaijani news agencies. Their photographs show masters of arts of two countries, who are well-known and loved both in Russia and Azerbaijan: Mstislav Rostropovich, Yelena Obraztsova, Māris Liepa, Muslim Magomayev, Polad Bülbüloğlu. Some of them illustrate moments of Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Russia and Russian Culture in Azerbaijan, which have been held on a regular basis in recent years. Photographs help to trace the development of Russian-Azerbaijani cultural contacts during past two decades.

Most recent photographs depict participation of Russian creative élite in the 1st Azerbaijani-Russian Forum on Humanitarian Cooperation, which this year acquired a status of international platform for discussion of topical issues of cooperation in culture, education and science.
