Archives: New Federal Archive in Russia due in 2015

In 2015, to coincide with 70th anniversary of Great victory, the city of Podolsk (Moscow Oblast) will open the Federal Archive which would keep documents on the history of World War II, announced Deputy Head of the Federal Archival Agency of Russia (Rosarkhiv) Oleg Naumov.

He mentioned that “alone the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of Russia located in Podolsk is expected to transfer at least 15-18 million files to the new Federal Archive. In addition it will store war-time materials originating from the Russian Naval Archive, as well as documents of the USSR State Committee of Defense, which are currently stored at the Russian State Archive of Contemporary History.

A piece of land adjacent to the Ministry of Defense Archive in Podolsk will soon see a construction of the new archival complex.
