IT and Libraries: Virtual Reference Service unveiled on Pskov Regional Academic Library website

The Pskov Regional Academic Library website (www.pskovlib.ru) has launched its Virtual Reference Service, called to complete one-time requests dealing with data search within the whole spectrum of subject areas.

Qualified bibliographers and methodologists answer the questions related to search of necessary information. The service is available to all users, who turn to it, regardless of their age, education or place of residence, and whether they are patrons of the Pskov Regional Academic Library or not. Data search is based, first and foremost, on the library’s electronic catalogue, its traditional reference and bibliography apparatus, Internet resources.

It is not the first year the Pskov Regional Academic Library is implementing Virtual Reference Service projects. A case in point is a Virtual Local Lore Service, which has been operating since 2010 and has attracted more than 10 thousand users within this year. Over 300 enquiries have been processed. With an introduction of the new service all the enquiries will be directed to the reference service.
