A Center of Public Access to Russia’s Legal Information was opened at the Russian Center of Science and Culture’s library in New Delhi on May 20, 2011. The center offers free access to over 1.7 million law acts of Russia. It means that now Russian compatriots, Indian scholars, schoolchildren, students or businessmen who are going to work in Russia, have a chance to access all legal acts of the Russian Federation. Data stored at the center will be automatically updated in case of introduction of any changes.

Vyacheslav Yudin, Deputy Head of the Federal Protection Service of Russia, told about the program being implemented within Russia which aims at foundation of centers of access to legal information. Today there are more than 19.5 thousand centers operating in all Russian regions and more than a hundred abroad.

The center’s legal database is freely available to individuals and authorities. Documents, offered in the databank, have official legal force.

In the near future Russia is planning to open similar centers in other cities of India – Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Trivandrum.
