Peoples of Russia: Conference on activities of ethnographic museums in Arkhangelsk Oblast

May 16-20, 2011 the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation is holding a conference “Modern ethnographic museums and their role in development of national culture and interethnic relations of peoples of Russian Federation” at the facility of the Open-air Wooden Architecture and Folk Art Museum “Malye Korely” (Arkhangelsk Oblast).

Its guests and participants include over 30 Russian specialists who study and preserve cultural and historical heritage: architects, scholars, museum staff, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Russia.

The conference addresses legal, economic and research issues for improvement of ethnographic museums’ performance in the modern socio-political situation, building of the database for development of the Federal target program on preservation of the wooden architecture in Russia.
