66th anniversary of Great Victory: Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Moscow launches exhibitions

To mark 66th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Moscow is launching series of exhibitions and events.

May 5, 2011 saw the opening of the “Battle for the Caucasus” art exhibition.

Through pictorial canvases and exhibits the exposition casts light on an invaluable contribution of Soviet soldiers and people of Vladikavkaz and Malgobek to victory over the enemy, whose feat granted the honorary title of “City of Military Glory” to these cities.

The exhibition has been mounted by M.S. Tuganov Art Museum (Vladikavkaz) and Malgobek City Administration.

May 6, 2011 was launched an art exhibition “Polyarny – City of Military Glory”, which has been organized with support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Murmansk Oblast Administration.

May 5, 2008 by the Presidential Decree the town of Polyarny, Murmansk Oblast was awarded the title of the City of Military Glory for the great contribution of sailors of the Northern Fleet and people of the town to victory in the Great Patriotic War.

“Polyarny – City of Military Glory” exhibition has used collections of state and public museums of the town of Polyarny, Murmansk, Moscow and private collections.

May 18, 2011 the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War is opening an exhibition “The Great Patriotic War in feats, decorations, documents and dioramas”, organized by Zelenograd Club of History Buffs with support of the Russia’s Collectors Association, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The key idea of this exhibition is to show battle scenes from lives of war participants. The most impressive of them have been captured in dioramas which fully correspond to historical facts.

The exhibition will put on show original elements of uniform of Soviet soldiers, photographs and documents, items of frontline life, examples of “trench art”, collection of battle decorations of the World War II and others.
