Memory of Russia: “City of Military Glory” title conferred to three towns

The President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has signed decrees on conferring the honorary title of “City of Military Glory” to towns Stary Oskol, Kolpino and Anapa, reads the message of the Kremlin Press Service. Relevant decrees were signed by the President May 5.

The “City of Military Glory” title is conferred to cities and towns of the Russian Federation on the territory of which or in their immediate vicinity during desperate battles the defenders of the Fatherland displayed courage, stoicism, and mass heroism, including cities of Russia granted with the “Hero City” title.

The first Russian cities to get such a title were Belgorod, Kursk and Oryol. All in all the “City of Military Glory” title has been granted to 30 cities and towns.
