
Russian language abroad: First International theoretical and practical conference “Language, World View and Text in Contemporary Russian Studies” in Granada
June 28 – July 1, 2011 at the University of Granada (Spain) is running the 1st International Conference of Experts in Russian Studies “Language, World View and Text in Contemporary Russian Studies”, which has been organized by the Slavic Philology Faculty. The Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Conference, the head of the Department for Slavonic Philology of Granada University, Enrique Quero, said that the Year 2011 which is the year of Russia in Spain and Spain in Russia made for the initiative of holding the conference which has attracted interest of over 200 participants from 28 countries of the world: Russia, Kazakhstan, Japan, Belarus, Slovakia, USA etc.
The conference is called to reveal specific character of Russian world view through the prism of language, literature and translation. Themes of this conference are centered around problems of text analysis and interpretation, problems of Russian language teaching, cross-cultural communication, understanding the place and role of Russian language and culture in modern scientific paradigm.
For participants of the conference Rossotrudnichestvo (Federal Agency on the CIS, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation) has launched a photo exhibition “Modern Russia”, which is aimed to attract attention of students, both those who study Russian language and all those who take an interest in Russian culture and Russia as a whole.
Rector of the University Francisco González Lodeiro stressed that in the future such conferences should become a tradition, in order to enhance prestige of the University of Granada as a Spanish center of Russian language teaching.
