IT and Libraries: Google and British Library to make 250,000 books available online

20 June 2011

The British Library and Google have announced a partnership to digitize 250,000 out-of-copyright books from the Library’s collections.

The British Library, which is one of the world’s largest libraries, will open up access to researchers and students to one of the greatest collections of books.

Google has been collaborating with 40 other libraries worldwide, however very often it encounters problems in digitization of copyrighted works.
